God determines who walks into your life....it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.

I've always been interested in photography. My Dad always took pictures of his travels, and I remember begging my parents for my first film camera, which turned out to be a Kodak Instamatic 44 given to me on my fifth birthday. Digital cameras and modern computers have evolved into wonderful tools for creative expression, and I have a real passion for this medium that continues to grow. I hope you enjoy the images.

LOUISE CHESSI MCKINNEY Artist Statement
In my paintings I choose to celebrate the miracles of nature. I attempt to capture the movement and language of the landscape itself through composition, brushwork, time, and atmosphere. The emotional energy of the landscape or city scene is conveyed through the use of line, pattern, shadow, shape and intense colors. My focus is on color harmony, and the endless possibilities found in the subject matter of energetic cities, or rural fields and plains. Through the use of lively background tones, and a combination of realism and abstraction; ordinary scenes and objects become immediately recognizable. There is satisfaction in painting the unique differences between the colors of early morning, versus those found in the afternoon or late evening; and in exploring the use of non-naturalistic color for a more vivid impression.
Working mostly from images and photographs taken on location, I am inspired to answer the challenge of attempting to capture nature’s perfection with every viewpoint. My influences include Van Gogh, Jacob Lawrence, Picasso, Jonathan Green and Wayne Thiebaud
